Empowering People in Crisis with Ray Lamb
A session to equip coaches to support individuals in the continuing of CV-19 pandemic.
There will be individuals in your community, neighbourhood, clients and family who are under extreme pressure because of the continuing CV-19 pandemic, and you may feel challenged to support them. Also you may be feeling ‘not at your best’ at this time. This session aims to equip coaches to support individuals who are anxious or fearful about their well being, relationships, finances, future, etc.
Ray is an experienced accredited coach (3,000+ hours). Whilst not having a formal medical background, he has spent the last 7 months as a trained volunteer for the charity ‘Shout’ ( www.crisistextline.uk ) and has completed over 450 conversations with people of all ages and backgrounds who have reached out because they are in a crisis and need support. Typically support consists of putting together a coping plan, empowering through validation and acknowledgement, and, where appropriate, signposting them to specialist services. This work, whilst rewarding, can be extremely challenging coming from a coaching background. Ray may never know the client’s name, age, gender, background, ethnicity, preferences (of any kind). And he will almost certainly never know what happens as a result of the conversation.
Ray will share some of his learning, ideas and strategies to help us do the best work we can as we support others through this pandemic and economic recession. This session will include an opportunity to ask questions and contribute ideas.
The event is free to Guildford Coaches Group members and you will be sent a Zoom link to join the session.
